Tokyo Paralympics Day Eight (Catch-Up)

 A hugely delayed post due to offline work but continuing with Day Eight which saw 54 medal events.

The Women's Individual W1 GOLD was won by Minyl Chen (CHN) after a 142-131 victory over Sarka Musilova (SVK) who took SILVER while a 131-123 success for GB's Victoria Rumary saw her collected BRONZE over Lia Coryell (USA).



A WORLD RECORD of 40.05m in the Men's Javelin F34 as Saeid Afrooz (IRI) won GOLD ahead of Colombian duo Mauricio Valencia who took SILVER while Diego Fernando Meneses Medina claimed BRONZE

A WORLD RECORD of 37.91 in the Women's Discus F41 as Ruoua Tlili (TUN) won GOLD ahead of Morrocan duo Youssra Karim who took SILVER while Hayat El Garaa collected BRONZE

A WORLD RECORD of 7.31m in the Men's Long Jump T38 with a China 1-2 as Dening Zhu won GOLD ahead of Huanghao Zhong who took SILVER while Jose Gregorio Lemos Rivas (COL) collected BRONZE

A Paralympic Record of 16.75m in the Men's Shot Put F46 as Greg Stewart (CAN) won GOLD ahead of Nikita Prokhorov (RPC) who took SILVER while Joshua Cinnamo (USA) claimed BRONZE

A WORLD RECORD of 7.61m in the Women's Shot Put F32 as Anastasiia Moskalenko (UKR) won GOLD ahead of Roza Kozakowska (POL) who scooped SILVER while Evgeniia Glaktionova (RPC) claimed BRONZE

The Women's Shot Put F36 saw Galina Lipatnikova (RPC) storm to GOLD as she out-threw Miriam Martinez Rico (ESP) who took SILVER while Qing Wu (CHN) collected BRONZE

A WORLD RECORD of 13.61s in the Women's 100m T36 as Yiting Shi (CHN) won GOLD ahead of Elena Ivanov (RPC) who took SILVER while Danielle Aitchison (NZL) crossed for BRONZE

A Paralympic Record of 14.20s in the Men's 100m T53 as Pongsakorn Paeyo (THA) won GOLD ahead of Brent Lakatos (CAN) who scooped SILVER while Abdulrahman Alqurashi (KSA) crossed for BRONZE.

A WORLD RECORD of 35.42m in the Men's Club Throw as Musa Taimazov (RPC) won GOLD ahead of Zeljko Dimitrijevic (SRB) who took SILVER while Marian Kureja (SVK) collected BRONZE

The Men's 100m T54 saw GOLD won by Athiwat Paeng-Nuea (THA) ahead of Leo Pekka Tahti (FIN) who scooped SILVER while Juan Pablo Cervantes Garcia (MEX) crossed for BRONZE. 

GOLD for Markus Rehm (GER) in the Men's Long Jump T64 as he out-jumped Dimitri Pavade (FRA) who took SILVER while Trenten Merrill (USA) collected BRONZE

The Women's 100m T53 saw a China 1-2 as Fang Gao won GOLD ahead of Hongzhuan Zhou who took SILVER while GB's Samantha Kinghorn crossed for BRONZE

In the Women's 100m T54, Zhaoqian Zhou (CHN) won GOLD ahead of Amanda Kotaja (FIN) who took SILVER while Cheri Madsen (USA) claimed BRONZE


GOLD for GB's David Smith in the Individual BC1 as he won 4-2 against Chew Wei Lun (MAS) who took SILVER while Jose Carlos de Oliveira (BRA) collected BRONZE with an 8-2 win over Andre Ramos (POR).

The Individual BC2 GOLD was won by Hidetaka Suigmura (JPN) after a 5-0 win over Watcharaphon Vongsa (THA) who scooped SILVER while Maciel Santos (BRA) claimed BRONZE with a 4-3 win over Worawut Saengamps (THA).

In the Individual BC3, Adam Peska (CZE) won GOLD ahead of Grigorios Poylchronoidis (GRE) who took SILVER while Daniel Michel (AUS) secured BRONZE after a 6-1 win over GB's Scott McCowan.

The Individual BC4 GOLD was won by Samuel Andrejcik (SVK) after a 4-0 win over Pornchok Larpyen (THA) who took SILVER while Yuk Wing Leung (HKG) collected BRONZE with a 5-4 win over Yuansen Zheng (CHN). 


The Men's H5 Road Race GOLD was won by Mitch Valize (NED) ahead of Loic Vergnaud (FRA) who scooped SILVER while Tim De Vries (NED) crossed for BRONZE.

In the Men's H1-2 Road Race, Florian Jouanny (FRA) won GOLD ahead of Luca Mazzone (ITA) who took SILVER while Sergio Garrote Munoz (ESP) collected BRONZE

GOLD in the Women's H5 Road Race for Oksana Masters (USA) as she finished ahead of Bianbian Sun (CHN) who took SILVER while Katia Aere (ITA) collected BRONZE.

The Women's H1-4 Road Race GOLD was won by Jennette Jansen (NED) who finished ahead of Annika Zeyen (GER) who took SILVER whole Alicia Dana (USA) crossed for BRONZE

GOLD for Jetze Plat (NED) in the Men's H4 Road Race as he finished ahead of Austrian duo Thomas Fruehwirth who scooped SILVER while Alexander Gritsch who collected BRONZE

The Men's H3 Road Race saw GOLD won by Ruslan Kuznetsov (RPC) as he finished ahead of Heinz Frei (SUI) who took SILVER while Walter Ablinger (AUT) collected BRONZE


A Paralympic Record of 253.1 in the R3-Mixed 10m Air Rifle Prone SH1 as Natascha Hiltrop (GER) won GOLD ahead of Jinho Park (KOR) who shot for SILVER while Iryna Shcetnick (UKR) who collected BRONZE

The R5-Mixed 10m Air Rifle Prone SH2 GOLD was won by Dragan Ristic (SRB) with Vasyl Kovalchuk (UKR) taking SILVER and Francek Gorazd Tirsek (SLO) collected BRONZE while GB's Tim Jeffrey finished in seventh.

The Women's 100m Breaststroke SB7 GOLD was won by Mariia Pavlova (RPC) as she finished ahead of Jessica Long (USA) who took SILVER while Tiffany Thomas Kane (AUS) claimed BRONZE

GOLD for Antonio Fantin (ITA) in the Men's 100m Freestyle S6 as he crossed in a WORLD RECORD time of 1:03.71 ahead of Nelson Crispin Corzo (COL) who took SILVER while Henrique Glock Talisson (BRA) collected BRONZE

The Men's 400m Freestyle S10 GOLD was won by Maksym Krypak (UKR) as he finished ahead of Bas Takken (NED) who scooped SILVER while Thomas Gallagher (AUS) claimed BRONZE

A WORLD RECORD time of 4:24.08 in the Women's 400m Freestyle as Aurelie Rivard (CAN) won GOLD ahead of Bianka Pap (HUN) who scooped SILVER while Oliwia Jablonska (POL) took BRONZE. GB's Zara Mullooly finished in fourth spot. 

The Men's 100m Breaststroke SB11 GOLD was won by Rogier Dorsman (NED) ahead of Keiichi Kimura (JPN) who scooped SILVER while Bozun Yang (CHN) collected BRONZE

A WORLD RECORD time of 1:19,78 in the Women's 100m Breaststroke SB11 as Karolina Pelendritou (CYP) won GOLD ahead of Jia Ma (CHN) who took SILVER while Yana Berezhna (UKR) collected BRONZE

The Men's 200m Individual Medley SM9, GOLD was won by Andrei Kalina (RPC) as he finished ahead of Timothy Hodge (AUS) who took SILVER while Ugo Didier (FRA) collected BRONZE

In the Women's 200m Individual Medley, GOLD was won by Sophie Pascoe (NZL) who finished ahead of Zsofia Konkoly (HUN) who took SILVER while Nuria Marques Soto (ESP) claimed BRONZE

A WORLD RECORD time of 1:02.97 in the Men's 100m Breaststroke SB13 as Taliso Engel (GER) won GOLD ahead of David Henry Abrahams (USA) who scooped SILVER while Nurdaulet Zhumagali (KAZ) collected BRONZE

The Women's 100m Breaststroke SB13 GOLD was won by Elena Krawzow (GER) as she finished ahead of GB's Rebecca Redfern who took SILVER while Colleen Young (USA) collected BRONZE.

A clean sweep for China in Men's 50m Freestyle S5 as Tao Zheng won GOLD in a Paralympic Record time of 30.31s ahead of Weiyi Yuan who took SILVER while Lichao Wang collected BRONZE.

The Women's 50m Freestyle S8 GOLD was won by Viktoriia Ishchiulova (RPC) as she finished ahead of Cecila Kethlen Jeronimo de Araujo (BRA) who scooped SILVER while Xenia Francesca Palazzo (ITA) claimed BRONZE

A Paralympic Record time of 1:04.86 in the Men's 100m Breaststroke SB12 as Vali Israfilov (AZE) won GOLD ahead of Oleskii Fednya (UKR) who scooped SILVER while Artur Saifutdinov (RPC) collected BRONZE

A Paralympic Record time of 1:14.89 in the Women's 100m Breaststroke SB12 as Maria Carolina Gomes Santiago (BRA) won GOLD ahead of Daria Lukianenko (RPC) who took SILVER while Yaryna Matlo (UKR) collected BRONZE



The Men's Team Classes 4-5 GOLD will be battled for by China and Republic of Korea after they secured 2-0 wins over Slovakia and France who both claimed BRONZE

In the Men's Team Class 8, GB and France both took BRONZE after losing 2-0 to Ukraine and China who will battle for GOLD.

GOLD in the Women's Team Classes 1-3 will be won by either China or Republic of Korea after they won 2-1/2-0 over Italy and Croatia who both took BRONZE

The Men's Team Classes 9-10 GOLD will be battled for by Australia and China after they secured 2-0 wins over Nigeria and Ukraine who both took BRONZE

In the Women's Team Classes 6-8, GOLD will be won by either Netherlands or China after they won 2-1/2-0 against RPC and France who both took BRONZE. 

The Men's Team Class 3 saw China and Germany advance to the final after 2-0 wins over Czech Republic and Thailand who both secured BRONZE

In the Men's Team Classes 6-7, GOLD will be won by China or GB after 2-0/2-1 wins over Germany and Spain who both collected BRONZE

France and Republic of Korea will battle for GOLD in the Men's Team Classes 1-2 final after 2-0/2-1 wins over Slovakia/Poland who both took BRONZE. 

The Women's Team Classes 9-10 GOLD will be won by either Australia or Poland after 2-0 wins over Brazil and China who both took BRONZE

In the Women's Team Classes 4-5, China and Sweden will battle for GOLD after 2-0 wins over GB and Serbia who both took BRONZE


The Quad Doubles GOLD was won by Dylan Alcott/Heath Davidson (AUS) as they secured a 6-4 6-3 victory over Sam Schroder/Niets Vink (NED) who took SILVER. BRONZE was collected by Mitsuteru Moroishi/Koji Sugeno (JPN) after a 7-6.6-3, 7-5 win over GB pair Antony Cotterill/Andy Lapthorne.
