Tokyo Paralympics Opening Ceremony

Alike the Tokyo Olympics, the Tokyo Paralympics will be the fifth games on this blog featuring both and today saw the Opening Ceremony take place. The ceremony opened with a Para Airport and the theme of Wings. An amazing montage of the events to come in the games combining to form the tricolour Paralympic logo. 

The stage featured an array of airport style dancers with a countdown leading to a huge firework display atop the stadium. Next up was the welcome from the host, Emperor Naruhito and Andrew Parsons, President of the International Paralympic Committee with the entry of the Japanese flag to the arena. A slight error in the raising with the flag incorrectly raised facing vertically rather than the traditional horizontal. 

The Airport stage moved to the Parade of Athletes with Paralympics GB's flag bearers being swimmer Ellie Simonds and archer John Stubbs representing a total of 219 athletes. The parade culminated with the hosts Japan who boast a total of 254 athletes. 

The arena lit up with colour in the theme of the Colours of the World with the Wings returning as the theme of the performances on stage. A wheel-plane impaired with one wing entered the main stage leading to a quirky dance sequence and later on, the traditional speeches to welcome in the games. The Paralympic flag was brought into the arena and raised alongside the corrected Japanese flag accompanied by the Paralympic anthem. 

Following this was the oaths taken by officials and athletes before the return of the Airport theme with the wheel-plane 'taking' flight and displaying the phrase- WE HAVE WINGS. 

The ceremony reached its final stages with the lighting of the cauldron which looked amazing as seen in the adjacent image. A huge firework display atop the ceremony lit up the Tokyo sky as the ceremony came to an end. 

Here's to 12  amazing days of action which begin in a few hours with Day ONE. 

Tokyo 2020 Day 16 & Closing Ceremony

Day 16 was the final day of events with the remaining 13 medal events across eight sports with the Closing Ceremony taking place later in the day.

Medals 

The Men's Marathon GOLD was won by Eliud Kipchoge (KEN) as he finished ahead of Abdi Nageeye (NED) who took SILVER and Bashir Abdi (BEL) who collected BRONZE. GB's Chris Thompson finished 54th while Ben Connor and Callum Hawkins didn't finish. 

The USA continued their dominance in the sport with GOLD after a 90-75 win over Japan who took SILVER.

The Women's Light (57-60kg) GOLD was won by Kellie Anne Harrington (IRL) as she defeated Beatriz Ferreira (BRA) who took SILVER. 

In the Men's Light (57-63kg), Andy Cruz (CUB) won GOLD as he defeated Keyshawn Davis (USA) who scooped SILVER.

GOLD for GB's Lauren Price in the Women's Middle (69-75kg) as she defeated Qian Li (CHN) who took SILVER.

In the Men's Super Heavy +91kg, Bakhodir Jalolov (UZB) won GOLD as he defeated Richard Torrez Jr (USA) who took SILVER. 

The Women's Sprint saw Kelsey Mitchell (CAN) win GOLD as she finished ahead of Olena Starikova (UKR) who took SILVER while Wai Sze Lee (HKG) collected BRONZE. GB's Katy Marchant finished in sixth.

In the Men's Keirin, An historic seventh GOLD for GB's Jason Kenny as he became the most decorated GB Olympian after finishing ahead of Mohd Azizulhasni Awang (MAS) who scooped SILVER while Harrie Lavreysen (NED) collected BRONZE. GB's Jack Carlin finished in eighth. 

Laura Kenny looked to match her partner Jason in the Women's Omnium but could only finish sixth as Jennifer Valente (USA) took the GOLD as she finished ahead of Yumi Kajihara (JPN) who took SILVER while Kirsten Wild (NED) collected BRONZE. 

The Women's GOLD was won by France with a 30-25 win over ROC who took SILVER while BRONZE was collected by Norway as they won 36-19 against rivals Sweden. 

The Group All-Around saw Bulgaria win GOLD ahead of ROC who took SILVER and Italy who claimed BRONZE. 

The Women's GOLD was won by USA as they secured a 3-0 set win against Brazil who took SILVER while Serbia collected BRONZE with a 3-0 set win over Republic of Korea. 

The Men's GOLD was won by Serbia as they sealed a 13-10 win over Greece who took SILVER while Hungary collected BRONZE after a 9-5 win over Spain. 

Closing Ceremony 

The ceremony began with a flurry of fireworks atop the Tokyo National Stadium and the introduction of the dignitaries including IOC President Thomas Bach and Japan's Emperor Naruhito followed by the parading of the Japanese flag. 

The flag was then raised accompanied by the Japanese national anthem and the flagbearers for each country entered together with GB's representative being Cycling Track heroine Laura Kenny. 

Next up was the Parade of Athletes with around 4500 entering, a reduction from the Opening Ceremony due to the COVID protocols of returning home within two days of event completion. The musical backdrop was an upbeat quiz show style which led to a sense of celebration in The Park in the centre of the arena. 

The artistry began with a colourful glow featuring the lights of the Athletes phones in the park with a firework backdrop as the arena alighted with a waterfall of light which formed the Olympic Rings. 

A performance from Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra on the stage kept up the upbeat feel to the ceremony as did the DJ set which followed. A move to a softer yet still upbeat musical scene as the park actions continued. 

The Greek national anthem and raising of the Greek flag followed as did the traditional final medal ceremonies of the Games in the Men's and Women's Marathons presented by IOC President Thomas Bach and World Athletics President Lord Sebastian Coe. 

The arena welcomed the new additions to the Athletes Committee who presented gifts to representatives from the Games volunteers. This was followed by a moment of remembrance and a montage across Japan and a musical change to a softer folk style. 

The traditional handover began with the French national anthem which was performed remotely across the French nation before ending with a performance from the International Space Station. 

A huge crowd in Paris including athletes and spectators became the feature including French President Emmanuel Macron from the Eiffel Tower before a return to the scene in Tokyo. The speeches began with the Games officially closed and the extinguishing of the Olympic Flame. The ceremony ended with an Arigato to Tokyo and Bonne Chance to Paris.

However, Paris 2024 is a long way off on this blog with the Paralympics -Tokyo 2020 next up from the 24th Aug-8th Sep which will be followed by the Winter Olympics of Beijing 2022 next February. 

Tokyo 2020 Day 15

 Day 15 saw the penultimate day of medal events with a huge total of 34 across 19 sports. 

Medals 

The Team Free Routine GOLD was won by ROC as they scored higher than China who took SILVER while Ukraine collected the BRONZE. 

Double joy for Kenya in the Women's Marathon as Peres Jepchirchir won GOLD ahead of Brigid Kosgei who scooped SILVER while Molly Seidel (USA) collected BRONZE. GB's Stephanie Davis, Stephanie Twell and Jess Piasecki finished in 39th, 68th and 71st.

The Women's High Jump GOLD was won by Mariya Lasitskene (ROC) as she out-jumped Nicola McDermott (AUS) who scooped SILVER and Yaroslava Mahuchikh (UKR) claimed BRONZE. GB's Morgan Lake had to withdraw due to injury. 

In the Women's 10000m, Sifan Hassan (NED) completed a unique treble with the GOLD as she finished ahead of Kalkidan Gezahegne (BRN) who took SILVER while Letsenbet Gidey (ETH) who collected BRONZE. GB'S Eilish McColgan and Jessica Judd finished ninth and 17th.

The Men's Javelin Throw GOLD was won by Neeraj Chopra (IND), the first ever athletics medal for the subcontinent as he out-threw Czech duo Jakub Vadlejch who took SILVER and Viteslav Vesely who collected BRONZE. 

In the Men's 1500m, an Olympic Record time of 3:28.32 for Jakob Ingebrigtsen (NOR) as he finished ahead of Timothy Cheruiyot (KEN) who scooped SILVER and GB's Josh Kerr who collected BRONZE. Fellow GB duo Jake Heyward and Jake Wightman finished in ninth and tenth.

GOLD in the Women's 4x400m Relay for USA (Sydney McLaughlin, Allyson Felix, Dalilah Muhammad and Athing Mu) ahead of Poland (Natalia Kaczmarek, Iga Baumgart-Witan, Malgorzata Holub-Kowalik and Justyna Swiety-Ersetic) who took SILVER. BRONZE went to Jamaica (Roneisha McGregor, Janieve Russell, Shericka Jackson and Candice McLeod). GB's Ama Pipi, Jodie Williams, Emily Diamond and Nicole Yeargin) finished in fifth. 

The Men's 4x400m Relay GOLD was won by USA (Michael Cherry, Michael Norman, Bryce Deadmon and Rai Benjamin) ahead of Netherlands (Liemarvin Bonevacia, Terrence Agard, Tony Van Diepen and Ramsey Angela) who took SILVER while Botswana (Isaaz Makwala, Baboloki Thebe, Zibane Ngozi and Bayapo Ndori) collected BRONZE. 

GOLD for Japan as they defeated USA 2-0 who took SILVER while Dominican Republic claimed BRONZE after a 10-6 win against Republic of Korea. 

The Men's GOLD was won by USA after an 87-82 victory over France who took SILVER while Australia collected BRONZE after winning 107-93 against Slovenia.

The Women's BRONZE went to France as they won 91-76 against Serbia. 

The Men's GOLD was won by Norway (Anders Berntsen Mol/Christian Sandlie Sorum) after a 2-0 set win over ROC (Vlacheslav Krasnilnikov/Oleg Stoyanovskiy) who took SILVER while Qatar (Cherif Younousse/Ahmed Tijan) collected BRONZE after a 2-0 set win over Latvia (Martins Plavins/Edgars Tocs). 

GOLD for GB's Galal Yafai in the Men's Fly (48-52kg) as he defeated Carlo Paalam who took SILVER.

The Women's Fly (48-51kg) GOLD was won by Stoyka Zhelyazkova (BUL) as she defeated Buse Naz Cakiroglu (TUR) who scooped SILVER. 

In the Men's Middle (69-75kg), GOLD was won by Hebert Sousa (BRA) as he defeated Oleksandr Khyzhniak (UKR) who took SILVER. 

The Women's Welter (64-69kg) saw Busenaz Surmeneli (TUR) win GOLD after defeating Hong Gu (CHN) who scooped SILVER. 

The Women's Canoe Double 500m GOLD was won by China (Shixiao Xu/Mengya Sun) ahead of Ukraine (Liudmyla Luzan/Anastasiia Chetverikova) who scooped SILVER while Canada (Laurence Vincent-Lapointe/Katie Vincent) collected BRONZE. 

In the Men's Canoe Single 1000m, GOLD was won by Isaquias Queiroz Dos Santos (BRA) ahead of Hao Liu (CHN) who scooped SILVER while Serghei Tarnovschi (MDA) claimed BRONZE. 

The Women's Kayak Four 500m GOLD was won by Hungary (Danuta Kozak/Tamara Csipes/Anna Karasz/Dora Bodonyi) as they finished ahead of Belarus (Marhartya Makhneva/Nadzeya Papok/Volha Khudzenka/Maryna Litvinchuk) who took SILVER while Poland (Karolina Naja/Anna Pulawska/Justyna Iskrzycka/Helena Wisiniewska) collected BRONZE. 

In the Men's Kayak Four 500m, Germany (Max Rendschmidt/Ronald Rauhe/Tom Liebscher/Max Lemke) won GOLD ahead of Spain (Saul Craviotto/Marcus Walz/Carlos Arevalo/Rodrigo Germade) who scooped SILVER while Slovakia (Samuel Balaz/Denis Mysak/Erik Vlcek/Adam Botek) collected BRONZE. 

The Men's Madison GOLD was won by Denmark (Lasse Norman Hansen/Michael Morkov) ahead of GB's Ethan Hayter and Matthew Walls who took SILVER while France (Benjamin Thomas/Donovan Grondin) collected BRONZE. 

Double joy for China in the Men's 10m Platform as Yuan Cao won GOLD ahead of Jian Yang who scooped SILVER while GB's Tom Daley collected BRONZE. 

GOLD for Sweden in the Team Jumping ahead of USA who took SILVER while Belgium collected BRONZE. 

The Men's tournament saw Brazil win GOLD with a 2-1 extra time victory over Spain who took SILVER. 

The Women's Individual Stroke Play saw GOLD won by Nelly Korda (USA) ahead of Mone Inami (JPN) who scooped SILVER while Lydia Ko (NZL) collected BRONZE. GB's Mel Reid finished in 55th. 

The Men's GOLD was won by France as they sealed a 25-23 victory over Denmark who took SILVER while Spain collected BRONZE with a win over Egypt.

The Women's Kumite +61kg GOLD was won by Feryal Abdelaziz (EGY) as she defeated Iryna Zaretska (AZE) who took SILVER. BRONZES went to Sofya Berultseva (KAZ) and Li Gong (CHN). 

In the Men's Kumite +75kg, Sajad Ganjzadeh (IRI) won GOLD as he defeated Tareg Hamedi (KSA) who took SILVER. BRONZES went to Ugur Atkas (TUR) and Ryutaro Araga (JPN).

After winning the Women's Individual, GB completed the double as Joe Choong took GOLD in the Men's Individual ahead of Ahmed Elgendy (EGY) who took SILVER while Woongtae Jun (KOR) collected BRONZE.

The Women's All-Around GOLD was won by Linoy Ashram (ISR) as she out scored Dina Averina (ROC) who took SILVER while Alina Harnasko (BLR) collected BRONZE. 

The Men's GOLD was won by France as they sealed a 3-2 set win over ROC who took SILVER. BRONZE went to Argentina after they won 3-2 against Brazil. 

The Women's GOLD saw a comfortable 14-5 win for USA over Spain who scooped SILVER. BRONZE went to Hungary after a 11-9 win over ROC. 

The Women's Freestyle 50kg saw Yul Susaki (JPN) win GOLD after defeating Yanan Sun (CHN) who scooped SILVER. BRONZES went to Sarah Ann Hildebrandt (USA) and Mariya Stadnik (AZE) as they defeated Oksana Livach (UKR) and Namuuntsetseg Tsogt Ochir (MGL). 

In the Men's Freestyle 97kg, Abdulrashid Sadulaev (ROC) won GOLD after defeating Kyle Frederick Snyder (USA) who took SILVER. BRONZES went to Abraham De Jesus Conyedo Ruano (ITA) and Reineris Salas Perez (CUB) as they overcame Sharif Sharifov (AZE) and Suleyman Karadeniz (TUR). 

The Men's 65kg GOLD was won by Takuto Otoguro (JPN) as he defeated Haji Aliyev (AZE) who scooped SILVER. BRONZES went to Bajrang Bajrang (IND) and Gadzhimurad Rashidov (ROC) as they overcame Daulet Niyazbekov (KAZ) and Iszmail Muszukajev (HUN). 

Tokyo 2020 Day 14

Day 14 sees a a total of 26 medal events across a variety of 11 sports with the first medals of the games for some sports. 

Medals

The Men's 50km Race Walk GOLD was won by Dawid Tomala (POL) as he finished ahead of Johnathan Hilbert (GER) who took SILVER while Evan Dunfee (CAN) collected BRONZE. 

In the Women's 20km Race Walk, Antonella Palimisano (ITA) won GOLD ahead of Sandra Lorena Arenas (COL) who took SILVER and Hong Liu (CHN) who collected BRONZE.

The Women's Javelin GOLD went to Shuying Liu (CHN) ahead of Maria Andrejczyk (POL) who took SILVER while Kelsey-Lee Barber (AUS) collected BRONZE. 

The Men's 5000m GOLD was won by Joshua Cheptegei (UGA) as he finished ahead of Mohammed Ahmed (CAN) who took SILVER while Paul Chelimo (USA) claimed BRONZE. GB's Andrew Butchart finished in 11th. 

In the Women's 400m, Shaunae Miller-UIBO (BAH) won GOLD ahead of Marileidy Paulino (DOM) who took SILVER while Allyson Felix (USA) collected BRONZE. 

An Olympic Record of 3:53.11 for Faith Kipyegon (KEN) as she took GOLD in the Women's 1500m ahead of a superb run from GB's Laura Muir who scooped SILVER while BRONZE went to Sifan Hassan (NED). 

The Women's 4x100m Relay saw Jamaica (Briana Williams, Elaine Herah-Thompson, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Shericka Jackson) win GOLD ahead of USA (Javianne Oliver, Teahna Daniels, Jenna Prandini, Gabrielle Thomas) who took SILVER. The GB quartet of Asha Phillip, Imani Lansiquot, Dina Asher-Smith & Daryll Neita collected BRONZE. 

In the Men's 4x100m, Italy (Lorenzo Patta, Lamont Marcell Jacobs,Eseosa Desalu and Flippo Tortu) won GOLD ahead of GB'S (Chijindu Ujah, Zharnet Hughes, Richard Kilty and Nathaneel Mitchell-Blake) who took SILVER while Canada (Aaron Brown, Jerome Blake, Brandon Rodney and Andre De Grasse) collected BRONZE. 

The Women's GOLD was won by the USA pair of April Ross/Alix Klineman as they secured a 2-0 win over Mariafe Artacho Del Solar/Tatiqua Clancy (AUS) who took SILVER. BRONZE went to Anouk Verge-Depre/Joana Heidrich (SUI) as they won 2-0 over Tina Graudina/Anastasija Kravcenoka (LAT).

The Women's Middle (69-75kg) saw GB's Lauren Price and Qian Li (CHN) advance to the final as they defeated Nouchka Fontijn (NED) and Zenfira Magomedalieva (ROC) who collected BRONZES. 

In the Men's Light (57-63kg), Andy Cruz (CUB) and Keyshawn Davis (USA) advanced to the final as they defeated Hovhanned Bachkov (ARM) and Harry Garside (AUS) who took BRONZES. 

The Men's Heavy (81-91kg) GOLD was won by Julio La Crux (CUB) as he defeated Muslim Gadzhimagomedov (ROC) who took SILVER. 

GOLD for GB pair Katie Archibald and Laura Kenny in the Women's Madison, the win means Laura becomes GB's most decorated female Olympian and also the first to win three GOLDS in three consecutive Games. SILVER was scooped by Denmark (Amalie Dideriksen/Julie Leth) while ROC (Gulnaz Khatuntseva/Mariia Novolodskaia) collected BRONZE.

In the Men's Sprint, double joy for Netherlands as Harrie Lavreysen took GOLD ahead of Jeffrey Hoogland who scooped SILVER while GB's Jack Carlin claimed BRONZE. 

The Men's BRONZE went to Mexico as they won 3-1 over Japan.

The Women's GOLD saw Canada win 3-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw with Sweden who took SILVER.

The Women's GOLD was won by Netherlands as they sealed a 3-1 win over Argentina who scooped SILVER. BRONZE went to GB as they edged a 4-3 win over India. 

The Men's Kata GOLD was won by Ryo Kiyuna (JPN) as he finished ahead of Damian Quintero (ESP) who took SILVER while Ali Sofuoglu (TUR) and Ariel Torres Guiterrez (USA) collected BRONZE.

In the Women's Kumite 61kg, GOLD went to Jovana Prekovic (SRB) as she defeated Xiaoyan Yin (CHN) who took SILVER. BRONZES went to Giana Lotfy (EGY) and Merve Coban (TUR). 

The Men's Kumite -75kg GOLD was won by Luigi Busa (ITA) as he overcame Rafael Aghayev (AZE) who took SILVER while BRONZES went to Stanislav Horuna (UKR) and Karoly Gabor Harspataki (HUN).

GOLD for GB's Kate French in the Women's Individual as she finished ahead of Laura Asadauskite (LTU) who took SILVER while Sarolta Kovacs (HUN) claimed BRONZE. GB's Joanna Muir finished in 14th. 

The Women's Combined GOLD was won by Janja Garnbret (SLO) ahead of a double for Japan as Miho Nonaka took SILVER and Akiyo Noguchi collected BRONZE.

The Men's Team GOLD was won by China as they secured a 3-0 win over Germany who took SILVER. BRONZE was collected by Japan as they won 3-1 against Republic of Korea. 

The Men's Freestyle 74kg GOLD was won by Zaurbek Sidakov (ROC) as he defeated Mahamed Khabib (BLR) who took SILVER. BRONZES were collected by Kyle Douglas Dake (USA) and Bekzod Abdurakhmonov (UZB) as they defeated Frank Chamizo Marquez (ITA) and Daniyar Kaisanov (KAZ).

In the Men's Freestyle 125kg, Gable Dan Steveson (USA) won GOLD by defeating Geno Petriashvili (GEO) who took SILVER while BRONZES were collected by Taha Akgul (TUR) and Amir Hossein Zare (IRI) as they overcame Lkhagvagerel Munkhtur (MGL) and Zhiwei Deng (CHN). 

The Women's Freestyle 53kg GOLD was won by Mayu Mukaida (JPN) as she defeated Qianyu Pang (CHN) who took SILVER. BRONZES went to Bolotuya Ochir (MGL) and Vanesa Kaladzinskaya (BLR) as they defeated Emilliene Joseph Essombe Tiako (CMR) and Jaccara Gwenisha Winchester (USA). 

Tokyo 2020 Day 13

Day 13 saw 29 medal events across a variety of 13 sports with some handing out their first medals of the games. 

Medals 

The Men's Triple Jump GOLD was won by Pedro Pichardo (POR) as he out-jumped Yamin Zhu (CHN) who took SILVER while Fabrice Hugues Zango (BUR) collected BRONZE. 

In the Men's Shot Put, double joy for USA as Ryan Crouser took GOLD with an Olympic Record throw of 22.30 ahead of Joe Kovacs who scooped SILVER. BRONZE was collected by Tomas Walsh (NZL). 

The Men's 100m Hurdles saw GOLD won by Hansle Parchment (JAM) ahead of Grant Holloway (USA) who took SILVER while Ronald Levy (JAM) claimed BRONZE. GB's Andrew Pozzi finished in seventh. 

In the Men's 20km Race Walk, GOLD was won by Massimo Stano (ITA) ahead of Koki Ikeda (JPN) who scooped SILVER and Toshikazu Yamanshi (JPN) who collected BRONZE. GB's Callum Wilkinson and Tom Bosworth finished in 10th and 25th. 

The Women's Pole Vault saw GOLD won by Katie Nageotte (USA) ahead of Anzhelika Sidorova (ROC) who took SILVER and GB's Holly Bradshaw who claimed BRONZE. 

In the Men's 400M, Steven Gardiner (BAH) won GOLD ahead of Anthony Jose Zambrano (COL) who scooped SILVER and Kirani James (GRN) who collected BRONZE. 

A successful title defence for Nafissatou Thiam (BEL) in the Women's Heptathlon as she won GOLD ahead of Anouk Vetter (NED) who took SILVER and Emma Oosterwegel (NED) who collected BRONZE.

An Olympic Record in the Men's Decathlon of 9018 points as Damian Warner (CAN) won GOLD ahead of Kevin Mayer (FRA) who scooped SILVER and Ashley Moloney (AUS) who collected BRONZE. 

The Women's Light (57-60kg) saw Kellie Anne Harrington (IRL) and Beatriz Ferreira (BRA) reach the final as they defeated Sudaporn Seesondee (THA) and Mira Potkonen (FIN) who both collected BRONZES.

In the Men's Fly (48-52kg), BRONZES went to Ryomel Tanaka (JPN) and Saken Bibossinov (KAZ) as they lost out to Carlo Paalam (PHI) and GB's Galal Yafai who will meet in the final.

The Men's Middle (69-75kg) saw Oleksandr Khyzhniak (UKR) and Herbet Sousa (BRA) advance to the final as they defeated Gleb Bakshi (ROC) and Eumir Marcial (PHI) who both claimed BRONZES. 

The Men's Feather (52-57kg) final was won by Albert Batyrgaziev (ROC) as he defeated Duke Ragan (USA) who took SILVER.

The Men's Kayak Single 200m GOLD was won by Sandor Totka (HUN) ahead of Manfredi Rizza (ITA) who took SILVER while GB's Liam Heath collected BRONZE. 

In the Women's Canoe Single 200m, GOLD for Nevin Harrison (USA) as she finished ahead of Laurence Vincent-Laporte (CAN) who scooped SILVER while Liudmyla Luzan (UKR) claimed BRONZE. 

The Women's Kayak Single 500m saw GOLD won by Lisa Carrington (NZL) with Tamara Csipes (HUN) taking SILVER and Emma Aastrand Jorgensen (NOR) collecting BRONZE.

In the Men's Kayak Double 1000m, GOLD was won by Australia (Jean Van Der Westhuyzen/Thomas Green) as they finished ahead of Germany (Max Hoff/Jacob Shopf) who scooped SILVER while Czech Republic (Josef Dostal/Radek Slouf) claimed BRONZE. 

The Women's Keirin GOLD was won by Shanne Braspennicx (NED) as she finished ahead of Ellesse Andrews (NZL) who took SILVER while Lauriane Genest (CAN) collected BRONZE. 

GOLD for GB's Matt Walls in the Men's Omnium as he finished ahead of Campbell Stewart (NZL) who took SILVER and Elia Viviani (ITA) who collected BRONZE. 

Double joy for China in the Women's 10m Platform as Hongchan Quan won GOLD ahead of Yuxi Chen who scooped SILVER while Melissa Wu (AUS) collected BRONZE. GB's Alejandra Spendolini-Sirieix and Lois Toulson finished in seventh and ninth. 

The Women's BRONZE was won by USA as they secured a 4-3 win over Australia. 

The Men's GOLD was won by Belgium as they secured a 3-2 shoot-out victory having drawn 1-1 with Australia who took SILVER. BRONZE went to India as they won 5-4 against Germany.

The Women's Kata GOLD was won by Sandra Sanchez Jaime (ESP) ahead of Kiyou Shimzu (JPN) who took SILVER. BRONZES were collected by Mo Sheung Grace Lau (HKG) and Viviana Bottaro (ITA).

In the Men's Kumite -67kg, GOLD was won by Steven Da Costa (FRA) as he defeated Eray Samdan (TUR) who scooped SILVER. BRONZES went to Darkhan Assadilov (KAZ) and Abdel Rahman Almasatfa (JOR).

The Women's Kumite-55kg saw GOLD won by Ivet Goranova (BUL) as she defeated Anzhelika Terliuga (UKR) who took SILVER while BRONZES went to Bettina Plank (AUT) and Tzuyun WEN (TPE).

The Men's 10km GOLD was won by Florian Wellbrock (GER) as he finished ahead of Kristof Rasovsky (HUN) who took SILVER while Gregorio Paltrineri (ITA) collected BRONZE. 

The Men's Park GOLD was secured by Keegan Palmer (AUS) as he finished ahead of Pedro Barros (BRA) who scooped SILVER while Cory Juneau (USA) claimed BRONZE.

In the Men's Combined, Alberto Gines Lopez (ESP) won GOLD ahead of Nathaniel Coleman (USA) who scooped SILVER and Jakob Schubert (AUT) who collected BRONZE. 

The Women's Team GOLD was won by China as they sealed a 3-0 win over Japan who took SILVER. BRONZE went to Hong Kong as they defeated Germany 3-1.

The Men's Freestyle 57kg GOLD was won by Zavur Uguev (ROC) as he defeated Kumar Ravi (IND) who scooped SILVER. BRONZES went to Thomas Gilman (USA) and Nurlslam Sanayev (KAZ) as they overcame Georgi Vangelov (BUL) and Reza Atrinagharchi (IRI). 

In the Men's Freestyle 86kg, GOLD went to David Morris Taylor III (USA) as he defeated Hassan Yazdanicharati (IRI) who took SILVER. BRONZES were collected by Myles Amine (SMR) and Artur Naifonov (ROC) as they overcame Javrail Shapiev (UZB) and Deepak Punia (IND). 

The Women's Freestyle 57kg GOLD was won by Risako Kawai as she overcame Iryna Kurachkina (BLR) who took SILVER. BRONZES went to Evelina Nikolova (BUL) and Helen Maroulis (USA) as they overcame Valeria Koblova (ROC) and Khongorzul Boldsaikhan (MGL).
