Tokyo 2020 Day Eleven

A very busy Day Eleven as there were 28 medal events across nine sports including two Sailing events that were rescheduled from the previous day.


Medals


The Women's Balance Beam saw double joy for China as Chenchen Guan ahead of Xijing Tang who took SILVER while Simone Biles (USA) collected BRONZE.

The Men's Parallel Bars saw GOLD for Jingyuan Zou (CHN) ahead of Lukas Dauser (GER) who took SILVER while Ferhat Arican (TUR) collected BRONZE.

In the Men's Horizontal Bar, Daiki Hashimoto (JPN) took GOLD ahead of Tin Srbic (CRO) who scooped SILVER and Nikita Nagornyy (ROC) who collected BRONZE


The Women's Long Jump GOLD was won by Malaika Mihambo (GER) as she outjumped Brittney Reese (USA) who took SILVER while Ese Brume (NGR) collected BRONZE. GB duo Jazmin Sawyers and Abigail Irozuru finished in eighth and 11th. 

A WORLD RECORD for Karsten Warholm (NOR) as he stormed to GOLD in the Men's 400m Hurdles ahead of Rai Benjamin (USA) who took SILVER while Alison Dos Santos (BRA) collected BRONZE

The Women's 800m saw GOLD for Athing Mu (USA) as she finished ahead of GB's Keely Hodgkinson who took SILVER while Raevyn Rogers (USA) collected BRONZE. GB's Jemma Reekie and Alexandra Bell finished in fourth and seventh. 

The Men's Pole Vault GOLD went to Armand Duplantis (SWE) as he out vaulted Christopher Nilsen (USA) who took SILVER with Thiago Braz (BRA) collecting BRONZE. GB's Harry Coppell finished in seventh. 

In the Women's Hammer Throw, Anita Wlodarczyk (POL) won GOLD ahead of Zheng Wang (CHN) who took SILVER while Malwina Kopron (POL) collected BRONZE

The Women's 200m GOLD was won by Elaine Thompson-Herah (JAM) who finished ahead of Christine Mboma (NAM) who scooped SILVER while Gabrielle Thomas (USA) took BRONZE.



The Men's Welter (63-69kg) GOLD was won by Roniel Iglesias (CUB) as he defeated GB's Pat McCormack who took SILVER.

The Men's Feather (52-57kg) BRONZES went to Duke Ragan (USA) and Albert Batyrgaziev (ROC) as they defeated Lazaro Alvarez (CUB) and Samuel Takyi (GHA).

In the Men's Heavy (57-63kg), BRONZES went to Muslim Gadzhimagomedov (ROC) and Julio La Cruz (CUB) as they defeated Abner Teixeira (BRA) and David Nyika (NZL).

The Women's Feather (54-57kg) saw GOLD for Sena Irie (JPN) as she defeated Nesthy Petecio (PHI) who took SILVER. 


The Women's Kayak Single 200m GOLD went to Lisa Carrington (NZL) in an Olympic Best Time of 38.120 ahead of Teresa Portela (ESP) who took SILVER and Emma Aastrand Jorgensen (DEN) who collected BRONZE. GB's Deborah Kerr finished in eighth. 

The Men's Canoe Double 1000m saw GOLD for Cuba (Serguey Torres Madrigal/Fernando Dayan Jorge Enriquez) in and Olympic Best time of 3:24.995. SILVER went to China (Hao Liu/Pengfei Zheng) while Germany (Sebastian Brendel/Tim Hecker) collected BRONZE

Double joy in the Men's Kayak Single 1000m for Hungary as Balint Kopasz took GOLD with an Olympic Best time of 3:20.643 ahead of team-mate Adam Varga who scooped SILVER. Fernando Pimenta (POR) collected BRONZE

In the Men's Double Kayak 500m, GOLD for New Zealand (Lisa Carrington/Caitlin Regal) with an Olympic Best time of 1:37.785 ahead of Poland (Karolina Naja/Anna Pulawska) who took SILVER and Hungary (Danuta Kozak/Dora Bodonyi) who collected BRONZE


The Women's Team Pursuit saw a WORLD RECORD time of 4:04.242 as Germany (Franziska Brausse, Lisa Brennauer, Lisa Klein and Mieke Kroeger) won GOLD ahead of GB quartet Laura Kenny, Katie Archibald, Neah Evans and Josie Knight who took SILVER. BRONZE was collected by USA (Megan Jastrab/Jennifer Valente/Chloe Dygert and Emma White).

The Men's Team Sprint GOLD was won in an Olympic Record time of 41.369 by Netherlands (Roy Van Den Berg, Harrie Lavreysen, Jeffrey Hoogland and Matthijs Buchli) ahead of GB trio Ryan Owens, Jack Carlin and Jason Kenny who took SILVER, Kenny becoming GB's most decorated Olympian as a result. BRONZE was collected by Florian Grengbo, Sebastien Vigier and Rayan Helal).


Double joy for China in the Men's 3m Springboard as Siyi Xie took GOLD ahead of team-mate Zongyuan Wang who took SILVER while GB's Jack Laugher collected BRONZE. Fellow Brit James Heatly finished in ninth.  




The Women's Skiff 49er FX GOLD was won by Brazil (Martine Grael/Kahena Kunze) as they finished ahead of Germany (Tina Lutz/Susann Beucke) who took SILVER while Netherlands (Annemiek Bekkering/Annete Duetz) collected BRONZE. GB pair Charlotte Dobson/Saskia Tidey finished in sixth. 

GOLD for GB's Dylan Fletcher and Stuart Bithell in the Men's Skiff 49er as they finished ahead of New Zealand (Peter Burling/Blair Tuke) who scooped SILVER and Germany (Erik Heil/Thomas Ploessel) who collected BRONZE

The Men's Finn saw GOLD for GB's Giles Scott as he finished ahead of Zsombor Berecz (HUN) who took SILVER while Joan Cadona Mendez (ESP) collected BRONZE

The Mixed Multihull Nacra Foiling saw Italy (Ruggero Tita/Caterina Banti) win GOLD ahead of GB pair John Gimson/Anna Burnet who took SILVER while Germany (Paul Kohlihoff/Alica Stuhlemmer) collected BRONZE

The Men's 109kg GOLD was won by Akbar Djuraev (UZB) with an Olympic Record total of 430. Simon Martirosyan (ARM) took SILVER while Arturs Plesnieks (LAT) claimed the BRONZE



The Men's Greco-Roman 77kg GOLD was won by Tamas Lorincz (HUN) as he defeated Akzhol Makhmudov (KGZ) who scooped SILVER. BRONZES went to Shohel Yakbiku (JPN) and Rafig Huseynov (AZE) as they defeated Karapet Chalyan (ARM) and Mohammadali Geraei (IRI).

The Men's Greco-Roman 97kg GOLD was won by Musa Evloev (ROC) as he defeated Artur Aleksanyan (ARM) who took SILVER. BRONZES went to Mohammadhadl Saravi (IRI) and Tadeusz Michalik (POL) as they defeated Alex Gergo Szoke (HUN) and Arvi Martin Savolainen (FIN).

The Women's Freestyle 68kg GOLD went to Tamyra Mariama Mensah Stock (USA) as she defeated Blessing Oborududu (NGR) who took SILVER. BRONZES went to Meerim Zhumanazarova (KGZ) and Alia Cherkasova (UKR) as they defeated Battsetseg Soronzonbold (MGL) and Sara Dosho (JPN).


Team GB News

Caroline Dubois missed out on the semi-finals in the Women's Lightweight as she lost out on points to Sudaporn Seesondee (THA).
