Day Eight is the busiest day of the games so far with a whopping 25 medal events in 14 sports with the first Boxing and Sailing medals to be awarded.

An historic GOLD in the Mixed Relay for GB (Jess Learmonth, Johnathan Brownlee, Georgia Taylor-Brown and Alex Yee) as they finished ahead of USA (Katie Zaferes, Kevin McDowell, Taylor Knibb and Morgan Pearson ) who scooped SILVER while France (Leonie Periault, Dorian Connix, Cassandre and Vincent Luis) collected BRONZE.
In the Men's 100m Butterfly, GOLD was won by Caeleb Dressel (USA) in a WORLD RECORD time of 49.45 as he finished ahead of Kristof Milak (HUN) who scooped SILVER and Noe Ponti (SUI) who claimed BRONZE.
The Women's 200m Backstroke saw Kaylee McKeown (AUS) win GOLD ahead of Kylie Masse (CAN) who scooped SILVER while Emily Seebohm (AUS) collected BRONZE.
The Women's 800m Freestyle GOLD was won by Katie Ledecky (USA) as she finished ahead of Ariarne Titmus (AUS) who scooped SILVER and Simona Quadarella (ITA) who collected BRONZE.
GOLD for GB quartet Kathleen Dawson, Adam Peaty, James Guy, Anna Hopkin as they won the Mixed 4x100m Medley Relay in a WORLD RECORD time of 3:37.58. SILVER went to China's Jiayu Xu, Zibei Yan, Yufei Zhang and Junxuan Yang while Australia's quartet Kaylee McKeown, Izaac Stubblety-Cook, Matthew Temple & Emma McKeon collected BRONZE.
Double joy for Sweden in the Men's Discus as Daniel Stahl won GOLD ahead of Simon Pettersson who took SILVER while Lukas Weisshaidinger (AUT) collected BRONZE.
In the 4x400m Mixed Relay, Poland (Karol Zalewski, Natalia Kacamarek, Justyna Swiety-Ersetic and Kajetan Duszynski) won GOLD in an Olympic Record time of 3:09.87. Dominican Republic (Lidio Andres Feliz, Marileidy Paulino, Anabel Medina Ventura, Alexander Ogando) scooped SILVER ahead of USA (Trevor Stewart, Kendall Ellis, Kaylin Whitney and Vernon Norwood) who collected BRONZE. GB quartet Nicklas Baker, Nicole Yeargin, Emily Diamond and Cameron Chalmers finished sixth.
A clean sweep for Jamaica in the Women's 100m as Elaine Thompson-Herah successfully defended her title by breaking the Olympic Record set back in 1988 (by USA's Florence Joyner Griffith) by running 10.61 for GOLD. SILVER went to Shelly-Ann Fraser Price while Shericka Jackson collected BRONZE. GB's Daryll Neita finished in eighth.
The Men's Doubles saw GOLD won by Chi-Lin Wang/Lee Yang (TPE) as they claimed a 2-0 win against Yu Chen Liu/Jun Jui Li (CHN) who scooped SILVER. BRONZE went to Aaron Chia/Wool Yik Soh (MAS) as they defeated Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiwan (INA) 2-1.
The Women's Feather (54-57 kg) saw BRONZES collected by GB's Kariss Artingstall and Irma Testa (ITA) after they were defeated by Nesthy Petecio (PHI) and Sena Irie (JPN) who will fight in the final on Day 11.
The Women's Sabre Team GOLD was won by ROC with a 45-41 success over France who took SILVER. BRONZE went to Republic of Korea as they won 45-42 against Italy.
The Mixed Team Final saw GOLD won by France after a 4-1 success over Japan who took SILVER. BRONZES went to Germany and Israel after wins over Netherlands (4-2) and ROC (4-1).
The Women's final saw New Zealand take GOLD with a 26-12 win over France who took SILVER. BRONZE went to Fiji as they secured a 21-12 win over GB.
The Women's Windsurfer RS-X saw GOLD won by Yunxiu Li (CHN) ahead of Charline Picon (FRA) who scooped SILVER while GB's Emma Wilson collected BRONZE.
The Men's Windsurfer RS-X saw Kiran Badloe (NED) win GOLD ahead of Thomas Goyard (FRA) who scooped SILVER and Kun Bi (CHN) who collected BRONZE.
The Mixed Team Trap saw Spain (Fatima Galvez/Alberto Fernandez) win GOLD with a 41-40 success against San Marino (Allesandra Perilli/Marco Gian Berti) who took SILVER. BRONZE went to USA 2 (Madelynn Ann Bernau/Brian Burrows) as they won 45-44 against Slovakia 1 (Zuzana Rehak Stefecekova/Erik Varga).
The Women's 50m Rifle 3 Positions saw an Olympic Record of 469.3 for Nina Christen (SUI) as she took GOLD ahead of Yulia Zykova (ROC) who scooped SILVER while Yulia Karimova collected BRONZE.
The Men's Singles final takes place on day nine but the BRONZE medal match saw Pablo Busta Carreno (ESP) win 6-4 7-6 6-3 against Novak Djokovic (SRB).
In the Women's Singles, GOLD was won by Belinda Bencic (SUI) as she defeated Marketa Vondrousova (CZE) 7-5 2-6 6-3. BRONZE went to Elina Svitolina (UKR) as she secured a 6-1 7-6 6-4 win over Elena Rybakina (KAZ).
The Women's Doubles final takes place on day nine so today saw BRONZE won by Laura Pigossi/Luisa Stefani (BRA) as they secured a 4-6 6-4 11-9 win over Veronika Kudermetova/Elena Vesnina (ROC).
The Mixed Doubles BRONZE was awarded to Ashleigh Barty/John Peers (AUS) after Novak Djokovic/Nina Stojanovic (SRB) pulled out of the event.
The Men's event saw GOLD won by Ivan Litvinovich (BLR) ahead of Dong Dong (CHN) who scooped SILVER while Dylan Schmidt (NZL) collected BRONZE.
The Men's 81kg GOLD was won by Xiaoun Lyu (CHN) with an Olympic Record score of 374 ahead of Zacarias Bonnat Michel (DOM) who scooped SILVER while Antonino Pizzolato (ITA) collected BRONZE.
The Men's 96kg GOLD was won by E H Ibrahim Fares Elbakh (QAT) with an Olympic Record score of 402 ahead of Giovan Keydomar Vallenilla Sanchez (VEN) who took SILVER while Anton Pliesnoi (GEO) collected BRONZE.

The trio of Keely Hodkinson, Alex Bell and Jemma Reekie all qualified for the Women's 800m final which takes place on day 11. Zarnel Hughes, Chijindu Ujah and Reece Prescod all qualified for the Men's 100m semi-finals.
